He inherited with his community leadership skills and abilities from his parents' and grandparents' blood. An important government official in the village's governance was Grand Father Mr. Jamis Singho (Jamis Ralahami). In the 1970s, in his grandparents' Gurugodalla home, his mother, Mrs. Yasawathi Herath, met with Mrs. Srimavo Bandaranayake for a political meeting. She had been an active member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party since 1968. She collaborated closely with Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranayake, the former president of the SLFP Women's Association in Nattandiya, and was a well-known member of the organisation. Since the 1960s, his father, Mr. Patrick Herath, has been a fervent supporter of the party. The siblings of his parents are also heavily involved in politics in the Puttalam District and around the nation, particularly contributing to the success attained in. Along with the leaders of the Puttalam District, he has actively worked for numerous provincial, general, and presidential elections. These leaders include former ministers Hon. Milroy S. Fernando and Hon. Dayashrith Thisera, Mr. Sanath Nishantha Perera, M.P., Hon. Minister Sumal Thisera (P.C.), and Mr. Sisil Wickramasinghe, the former chairman of the Nattandiya Pradeshiya Saba.
